THANKYOU so much to Sarka for these beautiful pictures & for giving Meadow such a wonderful home & WELL DONE to both of you on her debut!
We received a couple of new pics from Selma Olsen in Iceland a little while ago and I forgot to put them on the website! So here they are now......they are of "Conker" who is now known as "Eldar" & formally known as Mossbawnhill Glory Bound.
Thankyou Selma for the pictures & for giving Eldar a super loving home.
On Saturday 7th November 09 we had our Hound Club Of N.I open show, judged by Ms Jane Gostynska (Bubas Basenji's) from England,we had entered both youngsters "Rain" M.I Am All That & "Folly" M.U Bet I Am for the experience and just to keep them company we also entered Folly's mum "Teazel" M.Turn Up The Sun and her mum & Folly's grandmum "Bracken" Collooney Mamma Mia....Folly was 2nd in the AV Hound Puppy Bitch Stakes & also 2nd in J D/B class,Teazel was 2nd in LB and Bracken was 1st in the OB class and then totally surprised us all by going BOB!! Bracken has not been out at a show for quite some time as we have been waiting for next year when she will be in the Verteran class as she will be 7yrs old then,so to still be able to "hold her own" and outmove much younger whippets to take BOB is (we think) a great achievement.
Unfortunately it was'nt Rain's day as she was lame!!
Our 3rd trip across the water this month (October) was for Midland Counties Ch Show on the 24th under Roma Wright-Smith (Silkstone) we were again placed with both our girls ~ "Folly" Mossbawnhill U Bet I Am keeping herself again in the top three in the MPB class by getting a 3rd and "Pebble" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill It's All Bout Me still waiting for her 3rd & crowning CC managed a VHC in a strong OB class...actually both classes had quite respectable entries of 16.
Last weekend (18th Oct 09) we again travelled by ferry over to England fof a Ch show...this time it was Midland Whippet Club & the bitch judge was Morag Bolton-Lockhart of the "Pencloe" kennel in the UK. We managed to still get placed in the MPB class, even though it was very big.....17!!! Our little "Folly" Mossbawnhill U Bet I Am got a VHC whilst her big sis "Maple" Mossbawnhill Timeless Epic who is owned & handled by Jean Dickenson (Ribblesmere) in England was Res. "Rain" Mossbawnhill I Am All That debuted at this show & was also VHC in the PB class & "Pebble" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill It's All Bout Me (EW-09) was a respectable 3rd in a very strong OB class...both Rain & Pebble were handled by Ryan & Folly by me (Pamela).

So another good day for the Mossbawnhill babies!!
We are very pleased to report that our new babies have started off on the right footing & done us very proud indeed!
Our keeper from the "double T" litter "Folly" Mossbawnhill U Bet I Am & her litter sister "Piper" M.Blaze of Glory In Gwendariff who is owned by Albert & Marlene Ritchie both qualified for Crufts 2010 on their showring debuts! Folly at Belfast Ch Show on the 26th Sept 09 under breed specialist Leigh Morris (Crosscop) (UK) in the PB class which had an entry of 5 of which she was 3rd & Piper the following day at the NIWC Ch show under Bill Brown-Cole (UK) in the MPB class in an entry of 7 where she was 2nd ,closely followed by Folly who was again 3rd and ultimately doubly Crufts qualified!! lol
Folly also managed to attain a 2nd in the "Purina Pro-Plan World Puppy Bitch Stakes" class (entry~30) at Belfast under Graham Hill (UK)...all this and she was only just 6months old exactly on the day!!!
We received news today 16th September 09 that "Meadow" Mossbawnhill Bedazzled has landed in the Czech Republic and settled very quickly into her new home with owner Sarka Dohnalova & her other whippets & greyhound at the Dewallrock Kennel http://www.dewallrock.wbs.cz .She will compete in conformation & we wish her and Sarka all the very best for the future.
Below are a couple of pics taken shortly after Meadow arrived in her new home.
Today Saturday 5th September 09 we said goodbye to another puppy..."Rook" Mossbawnhill's Playboy left us to go to his new home with the Doherty family who own Laragh Greyhound Kennels, which is a successful kennel breeding track Greyhounds,so Rook will not be short of friends! He will join the whole family but his true owner will be Mark's young son Jamie who will in the future compete at a few local whippet club shows & have a go at racing too,I am sure Jamie & Rook will have lots of fun in the process & wish them all the very best!!
We are really thrilled to report that on Sunday 30th August 09 after travelling all the way over to Scotland for the Scottish Kennel Club Ch Show "Pebble" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill It's All Bout Me (EW09) took the BCC under breed specialist Marie-Christine Delabelle of the Di Mahana whippet kennel in Belgium, this was Pebble's 2nd CC following hot on the heels of her 1st one (again incidently in Scotland) in June under Espen Engh (Nor). We are now on the hunt for that all too elusive 3rd!!!!!
Her litter brother "Timber" Ir Ch M.Exclusive (CJW08) was 3rd in a very respectable OD class being beaten only by the eventual DCC & Res DCC winners.
So a very worth while trip!
On Saturday 8th August at Bangor Ch Show under breed specialist Arne Foss from the "Paper Moon" kennel in Norway,"Pebble" formally known as Ch M.It's All Bout Me was GS Bitch & BOB and under Keith Thornton from England she was Group 1st. Her brother "Timber" Ch M.Exclusive took the res GS in dogs and "Teazel" M.Turn Up The Sun won the OB class.
The critiques for our dogs from the WCOS back in June judged by Espen Engh (Nor) from the famous "Jet's" greyhound kennel have appeared in the local dog press,we have four of them as all four of our dogs managed to get placings: BIS & BCC,BOS & DCC, 2nd in OD & finally 2nd in JD. Also a Mossbawnhill grand-daughter received a critique too as "Ash's" M.Ltd Edition To Yialousa young daughter
"Scarlett" Yialousa Scarlet Ribbon was 2nd in MPB.
Critiques below:
JD: 2nd Mossbawnhill Better Son. Eyecatching white & brindle dog with generally high quality. More width of skull than I prefer.Long neck.Still needs to develop forechest.Excellent underline.Tends to fall off a bit over the croup.Moved a little narrow in front, but well from behind, acceptable from the side.
LD: 1st Mossbawnhill Exclusive (CJW08).Very attractive white and brindle male who combines substance & elegance to perfection.Masculine head.Long & crested neck.Moderately angulated in front, his markings on the show side make him look straighter in upper arm than he actually is.Excellent underline. When overstretched on the stack,he looks somewhat sloping in topline, but balances out on the move.Covers plenty of ground. Excellent legs & feet. Long, well angulated hindquarters. Moved very effortlessly, sound & supple from all angles. CC.
OD: 2nd Ir Ch Mossbawnhill Better Man. White & brindle male, very powerful and strong but still elegant enough.Masculine head, strong neck.Balanced angulation both ends.Deep chest.Moved better than most from all angles. Could do with some more chiselling all over.
MPB: 2nd Yialousa Scarlet Ribbon. Very attractive feminine bitch of generally very high quality. Beautiful head & expression. Long and elegant neck. Not much between her and the winner and could change places on another day,she scored in curves of body, but lost on reach and drive in movement.
OB: 1st Ir Ch Mossbawnhill It's All Bout Me. Excellent brindle bitch with some white trim, strong yet elegant, excellent size, type & quality, very sound & stands so firmly on her legs & feet.Very typical whippet head with good width of skull, excellent ears. Her neck is elegant yet strong. Excellent front, forechest & depth. In superb rock hard condition which was not the norm on the day. Shapely, well proportioned and balanced body. Moved cleanly & soundly coming and going, well balanced from the side, but could open up a little more for perfection. CC & BOB (BIS)
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Espen Engh for his lovely worded critiques & also for thinking as highly of our dogs as we do.
We are keeping up the "goodbyes" as today Tuesday 21st July saw "Maple" formally known as M.Timeless Epic & "Flax"formally known as M.Hope 'n' Glory leave us and go across the water to their new homes. We wish them both the very best & hope that they bring a lot of happiness & love to their new owner/owners. They will both be campaigned in the showring.
We had a great result today at Sligo Ch Show under Hound Judge Mrs Juutilainen from Finland who judged the whippets & also under the Group 10 judge Mr Antonopoulos (Greece).
Firstly in the breed "Badger" Ch M.Better Man took the Green Star in dogs and then his litter sister "Teazel" M.Turn Up The Sun made it a "double" for us as she took the GS in bitches, closely followed by BOB & then finally Grp 3rd!!!! Teazel has done extremely well since returning to the ring after her maternal duties & we are looking forward to having a lot of fun with her in the next couple of years!
This is proving to be quite a week for "goodbyes" as today (Saturday 18th July) another of our youngsters left for his new home,"Tide" officially known as M.Refuse To Bend went to live with his distant relatives "Squirrel" M.Made You Look & "Dale" M's Better Bet (European Jun Winner 09) who are owned by Tony Ennis,we know that Tide will have a wonderful life with Tony and his gang and will join him at work & get to meet lots of people as Tony works at a race yard.Tide will be shown in Ireland along with Dale & we wish him & Tony all the very best both in and out of the ring!
Two more of our babies have left us for their new home (although we are very lucky as they will be remaining here in Northern Ireland & we will see them regularly at the same shows!).
On Sunday 12th July "Piper" officially known as M.Blaze of Glory & "Paige" officially known as M.Foreign Affair headed off to their lovely new home with Albert & Marlene Ritchie of the "Gwendariff" (whippets) affix, they have settled in very nicely along with their existing family of whippets, and will be campaigned by Albert both here in Ireland (North & South) and also in England and we wish them all the very best and would like to thank them for giving the girls such a wonderful home.
On Saturday 4th July 09 (Independence day WHOO HOO!!) The Whippet Club Of Ireland held their Ch Show, the judge was the well known and respected breed specialist Barbara Anderson - Illingsworth from the "Birkonbrae" kennel in England,we faired reasonably well under her and took both open classes (dog & bitch) and then both Res Green Stars too with the parents of our double "T" litter "Timber" Mossbawnhill Exclusive (CJW 08) & "Teazel" Mossbawnhill Turn Up The Sun,Teazel also took Best Open as this was a club show and there were "specials" on offer. This was only Teazel's second time out since the litter, the first time being the previous week at Kilkenny Ch Show where she & Timber also won both open classes and in fact that was Teazel's first time out in almost two and half years as she was left to mature and develop after gaining her 1st UK CC from the Junior class at Belfast Ch show under Jeff Horswell in 06.
She will be campaigned now for the rest of this year and next alongside Timber who is patiently waiting for his last GS & his crown.
