"Pebble" & "Folly" win Ch & Jun Stakes at BDSS Open Show

We had an Easter Tuesday Open Show on the 6th April 2010 held by Belfast Dog Show Society and are very pleased to say that "Pebble" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill It's All Bout Me (EW09) won the AV Champion stakes and her neice "Folly" M.U Bet I Am won the AV Junior Stakes under Mr Willie Dobbin (UK) who is behind the well known "Brooklynbear" Newfoundland affix.

Thankyou to Mr Dobbin for these lovely wins.

What a weekend!! ~ culminating in a New INT Ch!

WOW! what a great Easter 2010 weekend Mossbawnhill have had!!

We are absoloutley thrilled to say that "Pebble" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill It's All Bout Me (EW09) is now an INT CH!! She gained her title at Combined Canine Club Int Show held on Saturday 3rd April 2010 under the well known & respected judge Mr Robert Paust (Swed/USA) and she managed to do it in style too with a BOB & a Grp 2nd! Her Group placing was under Ms Natalia Nekrosiene (Lith).

We also did well with our other dogs under Robert Paust as "Timber" Ir Ch M.Exclusive (CJW08) was Res Green Star (dog) & Res CACIB (which should end up as an actual CACIB (giving him 3) as the CACIB winning dog is already an INT Ch) and his daughter "Folly" M.U Bet I Am was Res GS (bitch) from the Junior Bitch Class (her first time out of Puppy)

A really HUGE THANKYOU! to both judges...Mr Robert Paust & Ms Natalia Nekrosiene for appreciating our dogs as much as we do!

Also over the Easter weekend there has been a little success story from Molly Rule-Steele & Sonia Turay (Taejaan) in Australia who own "Riley" M.I Am Legend who managed a Jun Class win at the Sydney Royal Easter Show on Thurs 1st April (I believe this qualifies Riley for Crufts 2011) under J. Nallem from Uraquay repeated the following day (Fri 2nd April) at The Whippet Club Of NSW Speciality Ch Show under breed specialist Mr Mike Howgate (Palmik) from England  & then topped that on the Saturday (3rd April) at the 2nd Whippet Club Of NSW "Whippet Speciality" Ch Show where he managed another Jun Class win with the Dog CC this time coupled with Best Jun In Show!!!!! This was under another breed specialist  Mrs Anne-Marie Curran (Chakrata) from South Australia.

So a GREAT! weekend for Mossbawnhill.

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!
to all at team Taejaan as they also picked up 2 BOB's & a BIS with their own breeding along the way!

New photo of "Piper" age 11mths

We were very kindly sent this new photo by Linda Horton taken of "Piper" Mossbawnhill Blaze Of Glory In Gwendariff whilst she was at Crufts this year (2010) in the Special Puppy Bitch class along with two of her litter siblings "Maple" M.Timeless Epic From Ribblesmere & "Folly" M.U Bet I Am."Piper" is owned and handled by Mr Albert Ritchie of the Gwendariff affix and has to date always been placed (apart from the huge puppy class at Crufts where she was shortlisted)  from the few times that she has been out in the ring.

"Clay" has another litter due at Kennel Druantia

We have had word from Daniela Zingg-Bucher (Druantia's) who is now living & exhibiting in Germany that "Clay" Mossbawnhill Masterpiece has successfully mated "Nora" Druantia's Eilinora Bright Star.

The litter is due the in April & is a very interesting combination of American,French,Continental & UK lines. And I am certain that if it is half as good as "Clay's" last litter which has been very successful  to date both in the ring & on the track then Daniela will be very pleased indeed!

If you are interested in possessing a "fit for function" puppy from this litter then please contact Daniela through her website on the link below

Mossbawnhill Grandson gets his Swiss Jun Ch title

We are really pleased to announce that "Glen Boy" Druantia's Glen Boy Light Of Your Smile who is owned  & handled by Martina Baertsch (Souls On Paws) from Switzerland   is now a Swiss Jun Ch. Glen Boy is by "Clay" Mossbawnhill Masterpiece & out of  "Carlin" Druantia's Carlin A Little Champion who is a full litter sister to our Swiss import "Rush" D's. Celtic Flight To M.

Glen Boy has also very recently passed the Swiss breeding entrance examination ZZP Rifferswil.

This examination consisted of two parts.....

Firstly the judges evaluate the temperament & behaviour of the dog.

And secondly they assess the dogs conformation & gait.

We are very pleased to say that Glen Boy passed both parts and he is now approved for breeding.

"Ritva" 5wks old & already on the stack!

We have received these beautiful photos from Aino in Finland taken of "Ritva" at 5wks old showing how good a little showgirl she is going to be. She is a Mossbawnhill grand-daughter as she is out of "Fallow"  Fin & Nor Ch Mossbawnhill Dream On (Fin JW 07) x   WW-08 N & S Ch Farytail's ThFragrance o'Gold

"Ritva" was a singleton puppy but she is  certainly not shaping up to be a disappointment..both Ryan & I love her and we are really looking forward to watching her grow up & mature.

Cruft's 2010

We had a really enjoyable day at Crufts this year (2010) as we met up with some of our friends both from home & abroad that we don't always get the time to spend with,so it was nice to catch up on the "gossip".

We also had some quite good & unexpected (as we did'nt think that our breeding would be the judges type) class placings. Firstly in Special Puppy Bitch  under specialist Mary Rigby (Poachyn)all three litter sisters were shortlisted down to last 8 from a good strong entry of 21,that was "Piper" Mossbawnhill Blaze Of Glory In Gwendariff who is owned & handled by Albert Ritchie, "Maple" M.Timeless Epic From Ribblesmere owned & handled by Jean Dickenson and of course our own "Folly" M.U Bet I Am who is handled by me (Pamela). The end result was Maple in Res (4th) and Folly VHC (5th) unfortunately Piper did'nt make the final line but it was still some going for all three sisters to be in the final cut!!

Then in OB from another large  entry of 25 this time including 7 Champions "Pebble" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill It's All Bout Me (EW09) ended up VHC (5th) handled as always by Ryan. Also in the dogs we were pleased with our result in the OD class under Terry Nethercott as "Badger" Ir Ch Better Man was shortlisted to the last 8 from a really HUGE entry of  31, again including some Champions..14 this time!! Unfortunately he went no further & did'nt make the final line up but he showed his socks off  for me & quite a few people commented very nicely on how well he showed & especially moved in the class. Badger never puts a paw wrong &  is a real showman,he thoroughly enjoyed his day!!

Anita Mixides (Yialousa) had a nice day too as she also managed a VHC (5th) but in JB with her lovely young orange brindle girl..."Scarlett" Yialousa Scarlet Ribbon who is a Mossbawnhill grand-daughter as she is out of "Ash" M.Ltd Edition To Yialousa.

Photos below very kindly takne & supplied by Pauline Oliver.

"Folly" on the move in the Special Puppy class @ Crufts.

"Toni" is now a Belarus Champion!

We have heard from Natalia  & Julia in Russia who own "Toni" Russ Ch Mossbawnhill Celtic Legacy (Russ Jun Ch) that he is now also a Belarus Ch too!

Julia travelled to Minsk in Belarus with "Toni" for two Int Ch shows on the 6th & 7th March 2010 & on both days he was entered into the Open Dog class where he was 1st with Exc & received the CAC thus giving him his Belarus Ch title, the judges were both from Poland.... Andrzej
Szutkiewicz (6th) & Malgorzata Wieremiejczyk-Wierzchowska (7th)

BIG CONGRATULATIONS!! to Natalia,Julia & Toni.

"Pebble" tops the Ch Stakes

We are very pleased to say that "Pebble" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill It's All Bout Me (EW09) topped a sizable quality entry of Champions to win the Ch Stakes under BIS judge Dr Tamas Jakkel from Hungary at Newtownards Ch Show yesterday (Sunday 28th Feb 2010),this was the first Irish Ch Show of the year & this qualifies Pebble for the annual Champion of Champions contest held at the end of the year.

We also had a bit of success in the breed too under Sandra Marshall (Lowerdon) from the UK,"Folly" Mossbawnhill U Bet I Am was 1st PB & her grandmum "Bracken" Collooney Mamma Mia was 1st OB & Res GS bitch.

So not a bad day!!

Thankyou to Dr Tamas Jakkel  for his lovely compliments about "Pebble".

"Folly" is BPIS!!!

We are extremely pleased & very proud to say that "Folly" Mossbawnhill U Bet I Am was declared BPIS from an overall entry of  33 puppies at South West Whippet Club's 1st Ch Show on Sat 20th Feb 2010 under UK breed specialists Mary Lowe (Nimrodel) who was judging bitches on the day & Mike Howgate (Palmik) who was judging the dogs.

We feel very honoured to have achieved this accolade under two very well respected  judges of such long standing & wish to say a BIG thank you to them both for their lovely comments about Folly.

This means Folly is now qualified for Crufts 2011,along with her sister "Maple" Mossbawnhill Timeless Epic who qualified at Manchester Ch Show last month (Jan)

Mike Howgate also gave "Timber" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill Exclusive (CJW08) a first place in an extremely strong OD class...."Timber" is Folly's sire.

"Flax" takes Res BPIS!!

We have some great news from England regarding "Flax" Mossbawnhill Hope 'n' Glory...he was entered at a Limited show recently and managed to win his first class which was AV Puppy Dog,he then followed that with another first in his next class which was AV Hound Open and then went on win the AV not previously having won a first prize with the society (he cant enter that particular class again now! lol) class and topped the day off by going Res Best Puppy In Show!!! (this was only his 2nd time out!) and the judge was Mrs Pat Stockton of the Kespas gundog affix in England.

WAY TO GO FLAX!!

"Toni" & his Daughter "Fanta" take BOB & BPIB

On the 6th February 2010 at Togliatti dogshow in Russia "Toni" Russ Ch Mossbawnhill Celtic Legacy & his daughter "Fanta"  Intriga's Confessa were CAC,BOB & Grp 1st and BPIB & BPIS 3rd respectively. This was only Fanta's 2nd time out,and on both occassions she has taken BPIB!

Toni is owned by sister's Natalia Malyarenko & Julia Eliseeva and handled by Julia & Fanta is owned & handled by her breeder Natalia.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN TO YOU ALL!!

Another BOB for "Bracken"

We had a very good day at our local Hound Club open show on Saturday 6th Feb 2010 under Hound specialist Dagmar Kenis-Pordham from the well known "Solstrand" affix of greyhounds.

Our oldest girl  & the foundation stone of Mossbawnhill "Bracken" (Collooney Mamma Mia) showed the youngsters how it should be done by winning the OB class & going BOB from a sizeable entry of 40 whippets, she also went 3rd BIS...there were no groups as it was a single group show.

Not to be outdone our other dogs also managed to do well too..."Folly" (Mossbawnhill U Bet I Am) was 2nd in the AV hound puppy bitch stakes and also 2nd in Junior dog or bitch in the breed class and her mum "Teazel" (Mossbawnhill Turn Up The Sun) was 1st LB which meant that the judge definitely judged to type on this occassion!

We also had our Basenji "Drift" (Ir Ch Zordia's Shooting Star Over Mossbawnhill (An Ch 07 & CW 08)) entered and he was Best AV Hound NSC and was also shortlisted in the BIS line-up. So another great day for Mossbawnhill.

We would like to thank the Judge Dagmar Kenis-Pordham for appreciating our dogs as much as we do.

"Fanta" Mossbawnhill G.daughter in Russia

We are very pleased to say that this lovely young bitch (pic below) called "Fanta" Intriga's Confessa is a Mossbawnhill grand-daughter & there is definitely more than a passing  family resemblance!

She is by "Toni" Russ Ch Mossbawnhill Celtic Legacy (Russ Jun Ch) who is in turn by "Badger" Ir Ch Mossbawnhill Better Man. Fanta is out of Russ
,RKF,BLR,KAZ,MDL,Eurasia & Int Ch
PERFETTO TOP MODELLA iz Volzhskoy Serenady (Russ  Jun Ch) and is partly line-bred on the "Du Sac A Malices" lines from France. We think that Fanta is a really lovely young bitch & a great prospect for the future and wish her owner/breeder/handler  Natalia Malyarenko all the very best with her...she has already got one BPIB under her belt at her very first show & I am certain that it is just a taste of things to come!!

Another critique for Maple & some stunning pics of her too!

I have another lovely critique for "Maple" Mossbawnhill Timeless Epic who is owned & handled by Jean Dickenson (Ribblesmere) England.

The critique is from breed specialist Heather Cleaver (Pencleave) UK) and is for 2nd in a junior class.

"Silver brindle & white bitch, built on longer lines than the first, feminine head, neck a little long for me,nice shoulder, good in ribbing & length of loin, well bent stifle, moved soundly, nice profile movement, will watch her progress with interest"

And some stunning pics of her very kindly taken & sent to us by Linda Horton & Jean Dickenson.

Some more great photos of  Mossbawnhill dogs living abroad were sent to us by their owner this time from Bermuda.

"Oscar" Bermuda Ch Mossbawnhill Going Places & "Cookie" Mossbawnhill's Fairytail are owned by the Maiato family & Tali who handles Oscar in the showring very kindly sent us these recent "family pics".

Both dogs are out of imported bitches that we own & are related via grandsires.

With the whole family.

New pics of "Riley" in Australia.

We have received these lovely photos of "Riley" Mossbawnhill I Am Legend from his owner Molly Rule-Steele (Taejaan) in Australia.

Riley was the only dog puppy from our super "Double T" litter back in March of last year (09) & we are extremely proud of this litter and how they coming along. Riley has'nt been shown that much as he has been enjoying his puppyhood & being left to mature as these lines are slow to do so but he already has 1CC  under his belt & I am sure this year he & Molly will accumulate a few more!

We hope you enjoy the pics as much as we do.

Folly follows in her grandmother's paw-steps!

We made the trip over to our first UK Championship show of the New Year. Manchester was held on Thursday 21st Jan 2010 & our promising youngster "Folly" M.U Bet I Am got us off to a good start by coming 2nd in a decent Puppy Bitch Stakes class under judge Mr Steve Hall (UK),who incidently gave Folly's grandmother "Bracken" Collooney Mamma Mia a 1st in the Special Beginners Stakes also at Manchester Ch show when he judged that particular stakes class back in 2006....so Folly is kind of following in her grandmother's paw-steps!

Jean Dickenson who owns & handles "Maple" M.Timeless Epic had a good day too as she has now managed to qualify Maple for Crufts 2011 by getting a 3rd in her class at her first Ch Show of the year which was also her first time being in the puppy class...so WELL DONE
to you both!! Folly was VHC in the same class.

Ryan & I (Pamela) also did quite well in the OD class too by getting 2nd & 3rd places with "Badger" Ir Ch M.Better Man (handled by Ryan for the 1st time..he is usually handled by myself) and "Timber" Ir Ch M.Exclusive (CJW08)  (I handled Tim as usual) respectively, the judge was Hound Specialist Mr Graham Hill (UK).

"Folly" winning 2nd in the Lincoln Puppy Stakes class.

A few of "Maple's" critiques.

Jean Dickenson (Ribblesmere) has sent me a few show critiques of "Maple" M.Timeless Epic.

From South Wales Kennel Assoc Ch show back in Oct 09 where she was 1st in the MPB class (her litter sister "Folly"  M.U bet I Am who we retained was 2nd) under English breed specialist Pauline Oliver (Spyanfly)

"A very appealing, well marked br/w baby. Well balanced & angulated. Lots of scope, with length of neck & body but with ample depth also. Moved with ease around the ring & soundly"

Then from Driffield also in Oct 09 where she was 2nd in the MPB class (her litter sister "Piper" M.Blaze Of Glory who is owned by Albert Ritchie (Gwendariff) was 3rd) under Hound specialist Tim Finney (Gulliagh)

"Very close up to 1,houndy lines, lovely head, neck & topline with well placed arch.Very sound mover, not quite as together as 1 today but another of very good quality"

And finally from Border Counties Hound Club Open show in Nov 09  where she was 1st puppy dog/bitch under Mr Brian A Henry.

"A lovely, feminine youngster with so much to admire, her excellent head, neck & shoulders and balanced conformation. Her speed, power & holding her topline on the move, with good front extension. Correct size for age"

New pics of Jeans Mossbawnhill gang at Ribblesmere.

We have been sent some cracking candids of  Jean Dickensons Mossbawnhill gang who live with Jean and her husband Ken at the "Ribblesmere" kennel in England.

Jean owns and handles "Ridge" M's.Better Boy At Ribblesmere,"Maple" M.Timeless Epic and "Flax" M.Hope N' Glory.

Another good day out for Bracken

"Bracken" formally known as Collooney Mamma Mia seems to be proving that she can keep up with her kids successes as she went BOB yesterday (19th Dec 09) at Antrim DCC Christmas Show under English breed specialist Miss Helen Wayman (Scarletfair). Despite the fact that it was an extremely cold venue & not the ideal exhibiting conditions for a dog with very little coat or for the exhibitors & judges for that matter!! But our whippets all performed well & we were extremely pleased with our results & had a great day.

The day started off quite well as we had entered both puppies into the stakes classes "Folly"  (M.U Bet I Am) was in the Minor Puppy Bitch Stks & "Rain" (M.I Am All That) was in the Puppy Bitch Stks and both girls were placed...Folly a 2nd & Rain a 3rd. Then onto the breed judging where Folly was in the Puppy dog/bitch class & got a 2nd there also,Rain was in  Graduate dog/bitch and she was 2nd there,"Damson" M.Smooth As Silk For Rushden who is owned by Janet Duke & Tracy Gill of the "Rushden" Kennel & handled by Tracy was 3rd in this class. Then we were onto Open Bitch where we had "Teazel" (M.Turn Up The Sun) and her mum "Bracken" entered..Ryan handled Bracken & I Teazel,Bracken won the class & BOB along with a Grp 2nd in a super group and Teazel was 2nd to her mum..so very "typy" judging by the judge!

We also had our Basenji "Drift" (Ir Ch Zordia's Shooting Star Over M.) entered and he managed to take Best AV Hound NSC,which we were really pleased with as he has'nt been in a ring for almost a year,so a great comeback for him and a really good day for Mossbawnhill.

Thank-you to the Judge ~ Helen Wayman.
